Before the Great War, people in Europe lived like what you had described in your "Humans as Malnourished, Diseased-Riddled Beasts" post.
Thanks to some idiots named Gavrilo Princip, Joseph Gallieni and Charles Fitzclarence, whom I call 'Chucky" after the Satanic Doll in Child's Play, especially Chucky, the Great war was prolonged by 4 years and people who had no business consuming things began to consume, including a huge lot of colonials, such as a Hussein Obama Onyango, who was drafted to get rid of a few hundred German guerilla in Tanzania along with hundreds of thousands of Africans who saw places outside of their villages for the first time.
After the war, which Germany almost won until Woodrow Wilson jumped in and rigged the result, the veterans were angry and the elites had to bribe them so for the first time in their entire bloodline they began to have some consumption, something which got even worse after WW2.
Without the Great War, or at least it not being extended thanks to Gallieni, Chucky and a few other idiots, only the elites would have continued to consume, and there would be no mass consumption around the world so every native in New Guinea could read telegrams in their phones.
It is true that Nikola Tesla did have some idea to channel the energy in space, and Thomas Edison and Westinghouse and GE suppressed the Serbian (who never stepped a foot in Serbia in his entire life btw), but Edison et al did do a great service to humanity.
Consumption only by the elites, and squalor for rest, would have saved the world . It is finally going in that direction, but too little, too late.
I agree with the globalists about one thing - 500 million would be a whole lot better than 8 billion, and growing. That's a big enough thing sometimes I wonder if maybe they aren't as bad as we think. Except then I remember they're anti-freedom for everybody except themselves.
The thing is ... they own and operate the farm... they call the shots... they get the Champagne and Caviar... we'd do exactly the same if we were in The Club https://fasteddynz.substack.com/p/what-if/
If growth stops or goes negative.... that means severe recession. A lot of people alive now have never experienced that... so they are rather sanguine about degrowth
They should not be.
Recession means layoffs... lots and lots of them... because people buy less because they are afraid they are next to lose their job.
As more people get laid off the recession worsens... because these people have no income .. so they buy almost nothing ... leading to more layoffs... unchecked we enter a deflationary death spiral -- and eventually the economy collapses...
Also - people who have no job are unable to service debts - they cannot pay their mortgages... their car loans... credit card loans... student loans... etc etc etc.... so the housing market collapses... the financial system ultimately collapses.
Believing degrowth is a good idea... only works in DelusiSTAN.
Nuclear Fusion, coming soon to a neighborhood near you.
Yes ... in 50 years time... and then in another 50 years...
i.e. never. This is nonsense along with https://www.bbc.com/future/article/20181119-why-flammable-ice-could-be-the-future-of-energy

Half of the ship will die - Rose "The Woke" Butaker
Not the better half. - Caledon "Kulm the Status Quo" Hockley.
The 500m are likely to be the better selection of humanity so it will be for the better.
Does that author understand what De-Growth means?
